Gavi injury latest: When do Barcelona expect to have midfielder back?

An insight into the ongoing injury recovery efforts of Barcelona star Gavi has this week been forthcoming online.

And the info points towards the midfielder having a long way to go yet before marking his return to the pitch.

Gavi, for his part, has of course been sidelined since November of last year, after suffering a ruptured ACL in his right knee during an appearance for the Spanish national team.

He has since been forced to watch on from the sidelines as Xavi’s squad, all too often, have toiled, a no doubt painful experience for a player who has long made clear his undying love for the Blaugrana.

Turning attentions towards Gavi’s efforts to mark his return to the pitch, though, things, thus far, have progressed smoothly.

The 19-year-old has not suffered any form of setback or problem in his rehab sessions.

The Barcelona faithful, however, should not get their hopes up when it comes to the chances of seeing Gavi back on the pitch any time soon.

As per a report from Diario AS, word stemming from the treatment room in Catalunya’s capital at present points towards the midfield starlet being just ‘50%’ of the way through his comeback plan.

Owing to the added damage done to the meniscus in Gavi’s knee, his is not as straightforward as a standard recovery from an ACL tear.

Instead, the expectation is an extra two to three months on the sidelines.

The Spaniard, as a result, is viewed as unlikely to feature in any kind of competitive setting until October or November at the earliest.

From here, he will be eased back into things, with the aim of Gavi being back firing on all cylinders by January of 2025.
