A former long-time member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is in active negotiations regarding a potential return to Spanish football’s top-flight.
This comes amid the understanding that Deportivo La Coruña are pushing hard for a deal to sign Lucas Vázquez before the transfer window is out.
Versatile full-back Vázquez has for his part spent the last 12 months plying his trade in Germany, with Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen. His debut campaign at the BayArena proved something of a frustrating one, as the 35-year-old was forced to deal with a string of fitness problems.
Murmurs, in turn, have spread that Vázquez could be granted an early departure, in the case of a sufficient offer arriving for his signature.
And as alluded to above, understood to be working towards precisely that at present are those in the boardroom at newly-promoted La Liga outfit Deportivo.
As per a report from Marca:
‘Deportivo La Coruña in recent hours have resumed negotiations for Lucas Vázquez, who currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen: a complicated operation due to the costs, but the Spanish club is making every effort.’
Vázquez, a native of the A Coruña region, could well be tempted by the prospect of returning to his roots as he enters the twilight years of a stellar career.
