Former Real Madrid star claims current squad are ‘much better’ than Galácticos

A former member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has today revealed his take that the current crop of players plying their trade for the club are by some distance superior to those of the ‘Galácticos’ era.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Real are of course in the midst of a fine season to date.

Eight points clear atop the Spanish top-flight, and with another Champions League title firmly in their sights, Los Blancos look well on course to bring fresh silverware to the Santiago Bernabéu come the season’s close.

As much comes owing to a whole host of factors, from coaching excellence to behind-the-scenes planning and much more.

Chiefly, though, it comes as a result of the wonderful squad of players currently on the books of Real Madrid.

From Jude Bellingham to Toni Kroos to Vinícius Jr. and Federico Valverde, the capital giants’ ranks are brimming with quality in every position on the pitch.

And, as alluded to above, one ex-protagonist in the engine room setup at the Bernabéu has today revealed his admiration for those at the disposal of Carlo Ancelotti.

Speaking during an appearance on El Chiringuito TV, Guti, a member of the famed Galácticos squad during the early 2000s in Spain’s capital, assured that:

“By players, this Real Madrid is much better than the Galácticos. In the Madrid of the Galácticos it was difficult for us to win. Too many were going forward and too few went back to defend.”
