Former Real Madrid player Freddy Rincón in critical condition after car crash

Former Real Madrid and Colombia player Freddy Rincón remains in a critical condition after the car he was travelling in collided with a bus in the Colombian city of Cali.

Rincon was driving a car in which there were four other people when the collision happened early on Monday.

The former player underwent surgery for severe head injuries. The hospital where he is being treated confirmed Rincón underwent surgery for over two hours and has since been transferred to the intensive care unit.

Laureano Quintero, head of the clinic where Rincón is being treated, said the former player’s condition was extremely critical.

Rincon, 55, scored 17 goals for Colombia and played at three World Cups. He played with Real Madrid from 1995-1997.
