A once highly-regarded Barcelona youth product has this weekend admitted that he would find it impossible to turn down a switch to the Blaugrana’s arch rivals.
The player in question? Carles Aleñá.
Midfielder Aleñá, for his part, spent a full 16 years on the books of Barcelona, from 2005 all the way through to 2021.
The now-26-year-old was at one point considered a potential star in the making, tipped for a long-term role in the first-team setup in Catalunya’s capital.
As much, in the end, failed to play out, with Aleñá having been snapped up by Getafe on a permanent basis three years ago.
And, as alluded to above, this weekend, the Spaniard has turned heads with his latest comments regarding not only Barcelona, but Clásico rivals Real Madrid, too.
Speaking during an appearance on the ‘Vamos Show’ podcast, as cited by Diario Sport, Aleñá was asked how he would respond in the case of a shock proposal on the part of the Spanish and European champions.
And the Catalan native went on to admit that, though he considers himself culé through and through, his desire to line out for a ‘top club’ means that Aleñá would not hesitate in taking his talents to the Santiago Bernabéu:
“I am a culé for life, but Real Madrid is a big team and I would never say no to a club like Madrid. It is a big club and I have always said that I want to play for a big team.”
