Florentino Pérez confirms Real Madrid’s first summer signing

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has this week announced the club’s first signing of the summer transfer window.

This comes amid confirmation that Ibrahima Konaté has agreed to take his talents to Spain’s capital for the 2026/27 campaign and beyond.

Stopper Konaté of course grabbed headlines across world football last week, upon word surfacing that the Frenchman had made the call to depart Liverpool as a free agent.

Real Madrid, long-term admirers, therefore sprung into action, opening negotiations with Konaté’s representatives over a potential joining of forces.

Reports over the last 48 hours assured that an agreement in principle had been reached between the parties over the terms a long-term contract.

And as alluded to above, on Thursday, precisely as much has been confirmed by none other than Florentino Pérez.

Speaking during an appearance in front of the media, as cited by Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid’s president announced:

“My first signing is Ibrahima Konaté.”
