Barcelona dealt blow as transfer collapses

La Liga champions Barcelona have on Thursday been dealt a setback on the financial front.

This comes after AS Monaco made the call to pull the plug on their swoop for Blaugrana midfielder Marc Casadó.

Youngster Casadó of course saw his name emerge front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the week to date.

After word was forthcoming that the 22-year-old had made his way onto the radar of the aforementioned Monaco, outlets quickly went as far as to claim that an agreement on the terms of a transfer was close to being found.

As much marked a welcome boost for those in the Camp Nou boardroom, eyeing much-needed funds to reinvest in further signings.

As alluded to above, though, on Thursday, the deal appears to have fallen through.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘The Monegasque club’s interest has not progressed. They have no intention of entering the bidding.’

With Casadó also boasting admirers at Atlético Madrid and in Saudi Arabia, Barca will now be hopeful of the arrival of further offers for a player not in the plans of Hansi Flick.
