Ferran Torres: “When Man City appeared with Guardiola I didn’t think twice.”

Speaking in an interview with Jorge Valdano on Movistar’s Universo Valdano, Manchester City and Spain forward Ferran Torres discussed his departure from Valencia.

Asking to be Valencia captain

During contract renewal talks with Valencia, Ferran Torres asked to be club captain. “It could have generated conflict because there were very veteran players who might have deserved it before me. I felt ready, it was the team of my city, my team, I had been there for many years… and I felt ready to be the captain. My intention was always to renew but an unbeatable opportunity presented itself in the form of Pep Guardiola’s City.

“There were many offers although my agent didn’t tell me all of them because I wanted to stay out of it. In the end, there were two or three serious offers until City appeared with Guardiola and at that moment I didn’t think twice.”
