Ferran Torres: “I felt ready to be the captain of Valencia.”

Speaking in an interview with Jorge Valdano on Movistar’s Universo Valdano, Manchester City and Spain forward Ferran Torres discussed his departure from Valencia.

“My departure was difficult for me and my family after so many years at my club, because for me it is my club. In the end, we know that it’s part of football and it’s already forgotten. I will always say that Valencia is my home and I would like to return one day because I will never forget it and for me, it will always be an honour to be able to play here.”

On asking to be Valencia captain

“It could have generated conflict because there were senior players who might have deserved it before me. I felt ready, it was the team of my city, my team, I had been there for many years and I felt ready to be the captain.
