Fenerbahce eyeing Real Betis’ Álex Collado, and why Barcelona will be hopeful of a deal

Turkish giants Fenerbahce are expressing a keen interest in on-loan Real Betis star Álex Collado.

That’s according to Diario Sport, citing sources in Turkey, who have confirmed Fener’s keenness on a summer deal for the 24-year-old.

Collado, for his part, is currently plying his trade in Saudi Arabia, with Al-Okhdood.

This comes after a lack of space in the attacking ranks in the aforementioned Real Betis’ squad left the Spaniard as the odd man out last summer.

Just days on from his arrival at the Estadio Benito Villamarín from Barcelona, Collado, in turn, was farmed out on loan to the Saudi Pro League.

And, despite the fact that his terms back in Seville are due to run for another five seasons after this, Collado, it would appear, could soon be on the move once more.

As per the aforementioned Sport, Fenerbahce have identified the former Spanish youth international as a prime transfer target with a view to the summer.

He has consequently been placed on a shortlist alongside two other attackers currently plying their trade in the Middle East – Al-Hilal’s Michael, and Jota of Al-Ittihad.

And one club who will no doubt be hopeful of Fener ultimately formalising their interest by way of an offer for Collado are Barcelona.

This comes with the Blaugrana maintaining a 30% sell-on clause, as part of their agreement with La Liga rivals Betis.
