La Liga outfit Espanyol have on Tuesday announced a fresh addition to the club’s attacking ranks.
The player to have penned terms with the Periquitos for the season ahead? Walid Cheddira.
The name of frontman Cheddira has taken its place front and centre in the Spanish transfer headlines over the course of the last week.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the Espanyol brass had set their sights firmly on the signature of the Napoli star.
Deemed surplus to requirements by the Partenopei despite a solid season on loan at Frosinone last time out, the Moroccan international sparked interest on the part of a number of clubs across the continent.
It was Espanyol, though, who quickly positioned themselves at the front of the queue for his signature.
And, as alluded to above, on Tuesday, such efforts on the part of the transfer team at Stage Front Stadium have officially borne fruit.
As per a statement across the club’s website and social media platforms:
‘RCD Espanyol and SSC Naples have completed the transfer of Walid Cheddira. The forward, international with the Moroccan national team, will play this season on loan with the white-and-blue team.’
