La Liga returnees Espanyol have on Wednesday announced a pair of high-profile additions on the transfer front.
As much comes as the brass at Stage Front Stadium set about ensuring that the club boast the best possible shot at maintaining their top-flight status into the 2025/26 campaign.
First through the door in Barcelona comes a new midfielder, in the form of Alex Král.
The 26-year-old, who boasts prior experience with the likes of Spartak Moscow and West Ham United, has been snapped up on a season-long loan from current club Union Berlin.
As per a statement across Espanyol’s website and social media platforms:
‘RCD Espanyol and FC Unió Berlin have reached an agreement for midfielder Alex Král (Kosice (Slovakia), 19-05-1998) to play on loan for the white-and-blue team this season. Král passed the relevant medical examination this Wednesday at the Corachan Clinic.’
As alluded to above, though, the Periquitos’ latest round of transfer work has not come to an end there…
This comes with boss Manolo González having been afforded some much-needed reinforcements in the attacking third, too.
The 2nd player primed to line out for Espanyol this coming season? Alejo Véliz.
Frontman Véliz actually spent the 2nd half of last season plying his trade in La Liga, with Sevilla.
And, though his first stint in Spain did not go exactly according to plan, the Argentine will have the chance to put things right in 2024/25.
This comes with Véliz having also penned terms with Espanyol, on loan from Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur:
‘RCD Espanyol and Tottenham Hotspur have completed the transfer of Alejo Véliz (Gödeken (Argentina), 19-09-2003), who will play for the white-and-blue team this season.’
