Speaking on his personal Instagram account, former Barcelona Sporting director Éric Abidal admitted his spell at Camp Nou didn’t go as planned.
“During the last two years, I’ve tried to make changes that I thought were important for the future of the first team. Despite my conviction and persistence, I haven’t achieved it. This is why I believe the right moment has come to part ways with the club.”
Barcelona dismissed Abidal from his role on Tuesday after it was previously reported he would stay on to oversee the restructuring of the club.
