Edinson Cavani: “I want to be the best Cavani ever at Valencia.”

As it appeared on Marca, Edinson Cavani gave his press conference as a Valencia player:

The 35-year-old discussed why he chose to join Los Che:

“I already had Valencia in mind. Because I know it’s a big club. It’s a great city, and with respect to the other teams you have mentioned, the best place to come to was here. If it was for the money, there would have been other proposals. In my situation, I wanted to make a decision that would lead me to where I wanted to go. When we said Valencia, I felt something special.”

Cavani told the cameras that he is ready to give it all:

“It’s been my job in my career to earn my name. I’ve always wanted to be the best Cavani I could be. You know you have a career behind you at my age. I want to be on the pitch as soon as possible. I will always do my best. I want to repay the club the confidence it has shown in me.”

The Uruguayan also revealed his thoughts regarding the number 7 shirt that he will be wearing a Valencia:

“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like any number. I respect all the players who have named them. I would never go anywhere and ask for the number of another teammate.”
