An insight into the stance of the powers that be at Real Madrid regarding the complaint lodged against the club by La Liga rivals Sevilla has this afternoon been provided.
The info comes courtesy of Marca, who have confirmed that Los Blancos have simply brushed the situation off.
The subject of tensions between Real Madrid and Sevilla, of course, has taken its place front and centre in the Spanish media headlines across the day to date.
As much comes after the latter announced that they had lodged a formal complaint to the Spanish Football Federation, regarding a recent video published by Real Madrid TV.
The clip in question featured heavy criticism of Díaz de Mera, the man primed to take charge of Sunday’s meeting between the two clubs.
Evidently of the opinion that as much came as a direct effort to influence the team of officials in place for tomorrow’s clash, Sevilla, in turn, unveiled the following statement:
‘The club wishes to confirm through a written statement to the Competition Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), we have reported the campaign of persecution and harassment towards the referee Díaz de Mera and González Fuertes (VAR) for tomorrow evening’s game against Real Madrid orchestrated by Real Madrid TV, the official club television channel of Real Madrid.
‘We wish to formally report these events to the RFEF to see if these actions can be considered as a violation of competition rules or any other regulations. The club also wishes to reiterate its strongest condemnation of these orchestrated campaigns aimed at undermining the image of the refereeing body, causing serious harm to Spanish football and calling into question the integrity of the competition.’
Safe to say, however, that as much has since not had the intended impact, at Real Madrid at least…
As confirmed by the aforementioned Marca, ‘Real Madrid does not care about the complaint filed by Sevilla against the white club’.
The brass at the Santiago Bernabéu feel as though they have done nothing wrong, therefore ready to continue producing referee-focused content as they so please.
Pointing towards the frequent complaints formalised by their La Liga rivals, it is therefore concluded that, in Spain’s capital, ‘nothing will change’ as a result of today’s developments.
