Diego Simeone on Kieran Trippier ban: “We think it’s unfair.”

Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone believes the club will be harmed from the “unfair” ban imposed on defender Kieran Trippier.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Atlético’s league fixture with Getafe on Wednesday, the first game Trippier will miss, Simeone said: “We think it’s unfair and we hope it can be revised because of the damage done to Atlético. Atlético obviously have absolutely nothing to do with this situation so we hope it can be re-assessed in some way, because while the FA benefits from this, Atlético are harmed by it and have nothing to do with it. The circumstances are what they are and we’ll have to live with it.”

The England full-back is set to miss at least 13 games for the Spanish club, after receiving the lengthy suspension for breaching FA betting rules.
