Speaking to Movistar after Atlético Madrid’s 2-1 win away to Getafe, head coach Diego Simeone admitted his team improved their performance in the second half to come back from a losing position.

Luis Suárez’s 91st minute winner sent Atlético back to the top of La Liga.

“We controlled the game early on but after that, we lacked intensity. We spoke about it at half-time and in the second half, we improved a lot. We had more chances and picked it up, it was quicker, we played with more intensity. It’s an important victory as Getafe needed the points. My players showed what they can do in the second half,” Simeone said.

On goalscorer Luis Suárez

“When the goals don’t go in you get criticised.”

On Antoine Griezmann

“Griezmann still has to adapt to our style of play.”
