Goal report that Atlético de Madrid are interested in signing Edinson Cavani to partner his fellow countryman Luis Suarez in attack.
The player’s entourage have been in touch with the La Liga club in recent days, according to Ruben Uria. Atlético have offered Cavani a one-year deal with the option for a second if they qualify for the Champions League.
Diego Costa would need to leave Los Colchoneros in order for Cavani to join up with Diego Simeone’s side. Atleti would have to find a destination for Costa. Costa has a salary of 10 million net per season and for now, he has not yet found a team that can pay that amount. The transfer window closes on October 5 and until then, Atleti will try to find a move for the striker. If Costa leaves the Wanda Metropolitano, the chances of being able to sign Cavani would grow exponentially.
Cavani is a free agent after his contract with PSG expired this summer and he has yet to agree terms with a new club.
