Sections of the Barcelona fanbase in attendance for the club’s meeting with Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night made use of the opportunity to take fresh aim at a headline member of the attacking ranks at arch rivals Real Madrid.
The player in question? Vinícius Jr.
Barcelona will of course mark their return to action in short order, when they play host to the aforementioned PSG, in the 2nd leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie between the clubs.
The atmosphere in Catalunya’s capital, in turn, has begun to pick up, ahead of what has been widely labelled as the club’s most important fixture of the season to date.
And yet, as alluded to above, some sections of the Barcelona faithful could not help but take things a step too far.
As crowds begin to form around Montjuïc, the venue for tonight’s clash, Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. was the target of grim chanting once more.
A chorus of ‘Vinícius muerete’ – translating as ‘Vinícius, die’ – was heard filling the air in Catalunya.
