Details: Real Sociedad seal defender deal

La Liga outfit Real Sociedad have this weekend tied up a deal to add to the club’s options at the back. This comes amid confirmation of Nayef Aguerd preparing to take his talents back to San Sebastian.

Stopper Anoeta for his part spent the duration of the 2024/25 campaign plying his trade in Real Sociedad colours, on loan from West Ham United. The Moroccan, all told, went on to rack up 21 league appearances.

After the board at Anoeta made the call not to make his signing permanent, Aguerd then made the move to France, joining Marseille on a long-term contract.

But as alluded to above, just 12 months on, the 30-year-old is primed to link up with Real Sociedad once more.

As per a report from transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, following a fresh round of negotiations between the parties over the last 24 hours:

‘Real Sociedad reach verbal agreement to sign Nayef Aguerd from OM, here we go! Initial loan worth €4m fee plus €11m buy option clause for Moroccan defender.’
