Dani Olmo set to return ahead of World Cup with Spain

Dani Olmo is expected to return to training with the rest of the RB Leipzig squad this week, according to Relevo.

The Spain international suffered a partial rupture of the internal ligament in his left knee during the Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt on September 3. Initially, the worst was feared, however, an MRI scan ruled out the worst prognosis.

The estimated time out was between four and six weeks, but the recovery has gone well and the deadlines have been met. Now, the challenge for the player is to get back to full fitness in order to be at 100% for the World Cup in Qatar.

Spain play their first World Cup game on November 23, against Costa Rica, and before that they will play a friendly (on the 17th) against Jordan.

There is still no set date for Olmo’s return, because it will depend on how he feels during his first training sessions back. If all goes well, the idea is to get some minutes against Augsburg on Saturday and also against Real Madrid in the Champions League on October 25.
