Dani Ceballos returns to La Liga in deadline day move

Former Real Madrid star Dani Ceballos has secured a deadline day return to Spanish football’s top-flight. This comes amid widespread confirmation that the 30-year-old has linked back up with Real Betis.

Midfielder Ceballos has for his part spent the entirety of the summer window to date searching for his next landing spot. Released from his contract a year early by the aforementioned Real Madrid, the one-time Arsenal man was subsequently linked with a whole host of clubs across Spain and Europe alike.

The most persistent in seeking out his signature throughout, though, were those in the boardroom at the aforementioned Real Betis.

After departing the Verdiblancos all the way back in 2017, Ceballos has been tipped for a return to Seville at some point or another almost every summer since.

And as alluded to above, on Tuesday, the saga has finally reached a positive close. As per a report from transfer market journalist Fabrizio Romano:

‘Dani Ceballos to Real Betis, here we go! He’s back at the club on a three-year contract. Deal in place until June 2029, joining as a free agent after leaving Real Madrid.’
