Clément Lenglet to return to FC Barcelona ahead of AC Milan loan deal

An update on the future of FC Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet, who is currently on loan at Premier League side Aston Villa, has been provided. As reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Villa are set to speak with Lenglet’s entourage before the end of the month to discuss a January exit.

The defender is likely to depart the West Midlands outfit, as he is yet to make a Premier League appearance for the club since signing on loan from the Spanish giants. The Villans are now willing to cut short the Frenchman’s loan in the January transfer window, meaning the player is set to return to Barca.

However, it is likely that Lenglet will be sent out on loan to AC Milan, who are keen on signing the centre-back, but are waiting to understand the conditions of a potential loan deal. The Blaugrana ideally would like to loan the 28-year-old to Milan with an option to buy.

Lenglet joined the West Midlands side on deadline day back in the summer as a replacement for Tyrone Mings, who suffered a serious knee injury, which is expected to keep him out for the entire season. However, he has struggled for regular game time with Pau Torres, Ezri Konsa and Diego Carlos all preferred options for Unai Emery.

His only appearances for Emery’s side have come in the Europa Conference League, however, he was left out of the squad for the final group game against Zrinjski Mostar.
