Chief Barcelona target ‘wants to finish his career’ with the club

A leading member of the transfer wishlist at La Liga giants Barcelona is eager to finish out the remaining years of his career at the top level of the game on the books of the Blaugrana.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Bernardo Silva as being the player in question.

It is of course common knowledge that those behind the scenes at Barcelona have long identified midfielder Silva as a leading transfer target with a view to next season.

The Portuguese represents something of a dream signing for Blaugrana boss Xavi, a long-term admirer of his talents.

And, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, it would appear that interest in a joining of forces between the parties this summer is very much mutual.

As per the aforementioned Sport, Silva is ready to do his part to ensure that his dream move to the Camp Nou comes to fruition ahead of next season.

The 29-year-old has already made clear to the Barcelona brass that he would be willing to take a significant cut on his current Manchester City wages, to push an agreement through.

Not only that, but it is claimed that Silva ‘wants to finish his career at the highest level’ as a Barca player, a hint that he would be willing to commit to a long-term contract.

The main issue in any potential transfer remains the financial situation in Catalunya’s capital, with Silva having made clear to Deco and co. that he wants his future to be decided prior to the European Championships kicking into gear.

Should such guarantees not be provided, the former Monaco standout is willing to look elsewhere, but one thing remains beyond any doubt – Barcelona are Silva’s priority.
