Chelsea reignite their interest in Sevilla defender Jules Koundé

Barcelona and Chelsea are interested in signing Sevilla’s highly-rated defender Jules Koundé this summer.

The Blues were in talks with Sevilla last summer for the defender but the deal collapsed.

The deal for the 23-year-old had stalled in the last weeks following the departure of Marina Granovskaia from the club but the Blues have turned their attention back to Koundé with new owner Todd Boehly leading the way, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The London club were in talks with Manchester City for Nathan Aké but failed to meet the City’s valuation for the 27-year-old.

Tuchel has already seen the club lose defenders Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rüdiger this summer and Koundé would be a versatile option to have at Stamford Bridge.

Sevilla have reportedly valued their defender at close to £60 million. The Spanish club’s manager Julen Lopetegui admitted on Friday that Koundé could leave over the coming weeks.
