Celta Vigo fine Pione Sisto €60,000 for leaving Spain without club’s permission

Celta Vigo have fined Danish international Pione Sisto €60,000 for travelling from Vigo to Denmark under Spain’s lockdown on March 27, according to Faro de Vigo.

The 25-year-old has returned to Spain but not yet taken part in training and since refused to undergo the first round of COVID-19 tests, but participated in the second round.

Celta head coach Oscar Garcia explained on Thursday: “He is a player that I would like to have training here like everyone else, but at the moment it cannot be that way.”

The fine handed out is the largest sum in the club’s history. Club president Carlos Mouriño said that the player has “a problem” and is not collaborating with the Galician club to resolve it.
