Carlo Ancelotti & Real Madrid staff greet Girona star in tunnel ahead of La Liga clash

The Real Madrid coaching staff sought out one member of the defensive ranks at Girona in the tunnel ahead of the meeting between the sides on Sunday.

That’s according to The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana, who points towards Miguel Gutiérrez as the player in question.

Left-back Gutiérrez, for his part, of course has a considerable past with Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old spent over a decade on the books of the reigning Spanish champions, between 2011 and 2022.

As part of the agreement which saw Gutiérrez depart for Girona on a permanent basis, Real Madrid in turn made sure to secure for themselves a buyback clause.

And chatter surrounding the potential activation of as much has come back to the fore in a major way on Sunday evening.

Real are of course currently locked in action in La Liga, in a meeting with the aforementioned Girona.

Before proceedings had even gotten underway at the Santiago Bernabéu, though, Carlo Ancelotti and his staff piqued the attentions of fans of both clubs.

This comes amid confirmation on the part of Mario Cortegana that:

‘Ancelotti and his coaching staff greeted Miguel Gutiérrez in the tunnel to the dressing rooms.’
