Carlo Ancelotti issues apology to Arda Güler over Sevilla substitution drama

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has issued an apology to youngster Arda Güler, for his actions during the club’s meeting with Sevilla last night.

The name of midfielder Güler, of course, took its place centre stage in the headlines in Madrid late on Sunday.

Unfortunately for the Turk, however, as much came for less than positive reasons.

Looking set to be afforded his latest chance to impress off the bench, amid Real’s search for a crucial opener in the club’s La Liga clash with Sevilla, Güler, in the end, was left frustrated once more.

This came after substitute Luka Modrić rattled home a wonderful strike to at long last put Los Blancos in front ten minutes from time.

The club’s midfield starlet, as a result, was informed that the decision had been made to scrap his planned introduction, owing to a change in strategy.

Speaking to the media post-match on Sunday, Carlo Ancelotti assured that Güler was fully ‘understanding’ of the situation, with all remaining well between the parties.

And yet, Real’s headmaster nevertheless felt it necessary to issue an apology to the struggling summer addition to his ranks.

As much was confirmed by Blancos insider Mario Cortegana, during an appearance on the Twitch channel of journalist Iñaki Angulo on Monday evening.

Following the full-time whistle in Madrid, Ancelotti was quick to seek out Güler, to provide a full explanation for his decision, and assure that he was sorry for the way in which things unfolded.
