Carlo Ancelotti explains decision to leave Arda Güler on Real Madrid bench vs Mallorca

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has provided a fresh update on the wellbeing of Arda Güler.

Real marked their return to action after the break, welcoming Mallorca to Spain’s capital for a La Liga clash.

When all was said and done in a tight affair, Los Blancos did just enough to emerge on the right side of the result, courtesy of a solitary Antonio Rüdiger strike.

On what ultimately proved to be a productive night for Ancelotti and co, though, many of a Real persuasion were nevertheless left feeling somewhat disappointed.

This came after Arda Güler, once more, was left on the bench.

Midfielder Güler made the move to Spain during the summer, but, owing to a series of fitness problems, is yet to manage a single appearance in the colours of his new club.

After he was named in the matchday squad to face Mallorca, though, the hope was that the Turkish international was in line for his long-awaited Real bow.

Speaking to the media post-match, Carlo Ancelotti was in turn asked why exactly Güler was not afforded as much.

And the Italian was quick to assure that the decision was a purely precautionary one, calling for patience across the Blancos’ fanbase:

“He’s fine and calm. He’s very happy to be back. He’s just 18, calm and relaxed. He’s our present and future. We all have to be patient. Little by little. He will have his minutes.”
