Carlo Ancelotti discusses Real Madrid stars being distracted by Mbappé after Rayo draw

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti this evening responded to the suggestion that his players’ underwhelming latest display may have come owing to outside distractions.

Los Blancos, of course, are fresh off their latest outing in La Liga.

After rattling off crucial back-to-back victories over Girona and RB Leipzig over the course of the last week, Ancelotti’s troops made the trip to Rayo Vallecano, eyeing a third win on the spin.

When all was said and done, though, Real were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.

This came after Joselu’s early opener was cancelled out just shy of the half-hour mark by Raúl de Tomás.

Post-match, several high-profile members of the capital giants’ squad, in turn, have since been singled out for inevitable criticism, having looked some way below their brilliant best on Sunday.

Speaking to the media a short time ago, boss Carlo Ancelotti was therefore questioned on the possibility of his squad being distracted, by news of the imminent arrival of PSG superstar Kylian Mbappé.

The Italian tactician, though, assured that this is not the case, adamant that Real are ‘always focused’:

“Not being focused because of what’s happening with Mbappé? When have we not been focused? We are always focused, today too. To scold this team for something this season is very difficult.”
