Carlo Ancelotti confirms Real Madrid star has not yet made decision on future

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has on Friday provided an update on the future of veteran defender Nacho.

The name of stopper Nacho has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital over the course of recent days.

This comes amid contrasting claims regarding his plans for next season.

Nacho, as things stand, will see his career-long terms at the Santiago Bernabéu come to a close this summer.

The Blancos brass are understood to have tabled a one-year contract extension offer to the 34-year-old and his representatives, with the widespread understanding, until mere days ago, having been that Nacho had zero intention of committing to as much.

As murmurs begin to spread that Real Madrid’s captain is now reconsidering one final season in the Spanish capital, however, the subject of Nacho’s future was in turn put to his manager earlier today.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of Real’s La Liga season finale against Real Betis on Saturday night, Carlo Ancelotti was asked if he expects his defensive stalwart to leave, or stay.

And the Italian went on to admit that:

“Nacho has not made his final decision. He will decide later.”
