An insight into some of the details behind La Liga giants Barcelona’s latest proposal for Manchester City star Rodri has been forthcoming on Wednesday.
This comes amid widespread confirmation that the Blaugrana have upped the financial stakes in their efforts to bring the former Ballon d’Or winner to Catalunya’s capital.
Rodri is of course now widely expected to link up with Hansi Flick’s Barca before the summer is out. After making clear his preference for the Spanish champions over arch rivals Real Madrid, the parties quickly found an accord on the terms of a contract.
The Camp Nou brass, in turn, have since set about finding a similar agreement with their counterparts at The Etihad. After seeing an opening bid firmly rebuffed, Barcelona returned with an improved proposal over the last 24 hours.
And as alluded to above, on Wednesday, a breakdown of some of the details making up the offer has come to the fore online. The info comes courtesy of journalist Xavi Hernández Navarro, who reports:
‘New figures on the table: €55 million fixed, €5m variable for matches and €5m variable for titles. €65m in total.’ It is added that ‘the variables for matches are de facto €5 million guaranteed. The other €5m up to €65m are more demanding.’
