Bayern Munich send ultimatum to Alphonso Davies amid Real Madrid interest

The powers that be at German giants Bayern Munich have forwarded an ultimatum to defensive star Alphonso Davies.

That’s according to Sky Sport Germany, who have on Monday provided an update on the ongoing efforts of the Bayern brass to keep hold of Davies beyond the summer.

The name of Canadian international Davies has of course long taken its place front and centre in the transfer headlines across Europe.

This comes amid a tug-of-war over the future of the explosive left-back.

At parent club Bayern, the board have long made clear their hopes of tying Davies down to fresh terms, ahead of the expiration of his contract in a little over a year’s time.

Complicating matters, however, is the long-standing interest of La Liga leaders Real Madrid in the services of the 23-year-old.

Amid their ongoing search for reinforcements at left-back, the transfer team in Spain’s capital have set their sights firmly on Davies, considered the ideal option for the short and long-term alike.

Some outlets, in turn, have gone as far as to point towards an agreement as having been reached between the two parties, over the terms of a deal beginning in the summer.

Not yet giving up hope of convincing Davies to stay put, though, Bayern, this week, are ready to kick one final push to extend his contract into motion.

As per Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, a fresh round of talks between the Bavarians’ board, and Davies’ entourage, have been pencilled in for the coming days.

At the sit-down, the former will propose a new contract, extending all the way through the summer of 2029, featuring improved wages of €11-13 million-per-year gross.

It remains to be seen whether as much proves enough to change the mind of the Canadian and his representatives, who have until now been holding out for a sum closer to the €20 million mark.

In the case of no progress being made towards an accord, however, ‘a sale is planned for the summer’.
