Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has this week revealed his wish to face off with arch rivals Real Madrid on the continent this season.
Hansi Flick’s Barca have of course set their sights firmly on glory in Europe for the year ahead, feeling as though they now boast all of the tools to lift the Champions League for the first time in ten years.
Should the Blaugrana ultimately march on to as much, the aforementioned Lamine will no doubt play a leading role, fresh off a spectacular opening to the new term.
And along the way, the 19-year-old would love nothing more than to send Real Madrid packing from the competition.
Los Blancos are by some way the most successful club in the history of the Champions League, boasting a remarkable 15 titles all told.
Speaking during an interview with Movistar (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) this week, Lamine Yamal was therefore drawn on the prospect of locking horns with José Mourinho’s troops on the continent.
And the young winger went on to assure:
“I want to face Real Madrid in El Clásico in the Champions League. I’d really love that. If you come from La Masia, you know El Clásico feels like a battle.”
