Barcelona’s January transfer plans hinge on one player

The hopes of the board at La Liga giants Barcelona of reinforcing their backline this winter are likely to hinge on the future of one current member of Hansi Flick’s defensive ranks.

The player in question? Alejandro Balde.

Defender Balde has of course fallen completely out of favour across the season to date, now considered as third choice in the left-back pecking order in Barcelona’s squad.

For this reason, the door is considered as very much open to the Spaniard when it comes to a potential departure from Catalunya’s capital in January.

And according to Diario Sport, to open up the necessary space for much-desired reinforcements at the heart of defence at the Camp Nou, Balde’s mid-season exit is all but a necessity:

‘His departure is absolutely key for the Blaugrana club to have the possibility of going for a defensive complement of the present and future in the market.’
