Barcelona to be without 8 players for Unionistas clash

Barcelona are expected to be without the services of a hefty eight stars, for the club’s upcoming meeting with Unionistas.

Xavi’s troops are of course set to mark their return to action on Thursday evening.

After being put to the sword in alarming fashion in the finale of the Spanish Super Cup last weekend, Barca will be hoping for a bounce-back showing, when they make the trip to aforementioned minnows Unionistas with a spot in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey on the line.

Such endeavours on the part of the Blaugrana, as alluded to above, though, will come without the contributions of a whole host of high-profile names.

In a post across the club’s social media platforms earlier this evening, Barcelona unveiled their travelling squad bound for Salamanca.

And though a number of star names were indeed front and centre, so too were a whole host missing from the squad list.

All of Gavi, Raphinha, Marc-André ter Stegen, João Cancelo, Iñigo Martínez and Marcos Alonso, as expected, miss out through injury.

And adding to such absentees are the suspended duo of club captain Ronald Araújo, and youngster Lamine Yamal.
