Barcelona summer signing the star of the show in comeback win over Rayo Vallecano

The marquee summer addition to the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona on Tuesday showcased precisely why the club pushed so hard for his signature.

This came by way of developments in the club’s meeting with Rayo Vallecano.

Hansi Flick’s troops marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to Vallecas with hopes of keeping alive their perfect start to the campaign.

And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what Barcelona managed, courtesy of a 2-1 triumph.

With 45 minutes on the clock, the Blaugrana found themselves a goal down, and looking completely bereft of ideas.

Cometh the hour, though, cometh the man…

After at last being registered for La Liga action earlier in the day, Dani Olmo was introduced off the bench by boss Flick at the interval.

And the 26-year-old went on to completely change the flow of the matchup.

Adding a completely new dimension to Barca’s attacks, Olmo introduced poise, flair, creativity and technical excellence all in equal measure.

The Spanish international was extremely unlucky not to be awarded a penalty kick, later rattling the crossbar, before his endeavours were finally rewarded inside the closing ten minutes of play.

After Pedri had levelled things up 20 minutes prior, Olmo bagged the game’s decisive goal, courtesy of a fine left-footed finish.

The Barcelona faithful were forced to wait far longer than they would have liked to see their side’s new big-money signing take to the pitch in the club’s colours.

When it finally arrived, though, Olmo’s bow was more than worth the wait…
