La Liga giants Barcelona were tonight dealt a concerning blow on the personnel front.
As much came late in the club’s meeting with Rayo Vallecano.
Barca are fresh off making it three wins from three to open the campaign, courtesy of a 2-1 downing of Rayo at Vallecas.
After Unai López’s opener was cancelled out by Pedri on the hour mark, summer signing Dani Olmo proved himself match-winner, emerging from the bench to notch the decisive goal inside the closing ten minutes of action.
And yet, on an otherwise positive evening’s work for the Blaugrana, one source of concern, too, was forthcoming.
With mere seconds remaining in ten minutes of injury time, youngster Marc Bernal went to ground under a challenge, left in evident distress on the Vallecas turf.
Upon being tended to by the visitors’ medical staff, it was quickly established that the 17-year-old was in no condition to continue, helped from the pitch with what appeared to be a knee problem at full-time.
All of a Barca persuasion, in turn, now face an anxious wait for an update on the wellbeing of the club’s midfield sensation.
