Barcelona star to miss the club’s next 5 fixtures

La Liga giants Barcelona will be forced to make do without the services of defensive star Eric García for the club’s next five outings across all competitions.

This comes after the extent of the Spanish international’s injury setback was confirmed.

Stopper Eric for his part featured off the bench on Saturday evening, as Barcelona made the trip to Real Betis for a La Liga clash. Inside the closing exchanges at La Cartuja, however, the former Manchester City man pulled up with a muscular complaint, before limping off.

An ensuing round of medical tests and scans back in Catalunya’s capital on Sunday gave rise to the following diagnosis:

‘First-team player Eric Garcia has suffered a muscle injury to the rectus femoris in his right thigh. His recovery time is estimated at 3 to 4 weeks.’

This means that the 25-year-old will not be available for selection for any of Barcelona’s fixtures this side of the November international break. He will sit out against all of:

  • Paris Saint-Germain
  • Real Madrid
  • Deportivo Alavés
  • Aston Villa
  • Atlético Madrid
