An altogether positive development was noted at the training ground of La Liga giants Barcelona on Tuesday morning. This comes amid confirmation that Frenkie de Jong has returned to group activities.
Dutchman De Jong was for his part condemned to a fresh spell on the sidelines earlier this summer. After reporting back to Catalunya’s capital following the World Cup, the 29-year-old was revealed to have suffered a serious knee injury.
The parties, from here, opted for conservative treatment, in the hopes of De Jong’s knee healing through hands-on work and specific workout routines.
And after initial concerns that the wrong route had been followed, over recent weeks, the former Ajax man has taken significant steps forward in his recovery.
So much so that, as per a report from Barcelona insider Alex Pintanel, De Jong played a partial role in group training alongside the rest of Hansi Flick’s squad at the Ciutat Esportiva on Tuesday.
His return to the pitch remains some way off, but finally appears to be in the sights of the midfielder.
