Barcelona star reaches agreement over move to Atlético Madrid

An out-of-favour member of the defensive ranks at Barcelona has agreed on the terms of a move to La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid.

That’s according to a number of sources across the Spanish media, who point towards Clément Lenglet as the player in question.

Stopper Lenglet has for his part long been deemed surplus to requirements by Barcelona, owing in large part to his massive salary for the season ahead.

To date, the Frenchman has rejected a number of approaches from the Saudi Pro League, eager to continue his playing days at the top level of the game.

And, as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish press is anything to go by, an opportunity for as much looks set to be afforded to Lenglet, by another of La Liga’s leading clubs.

As per a report from COPE, since confirmed by further sources, the 29-year-old has an agreement in place on the terms of a contract with Atlético Madrid.

Diego Simeone’s troops have long been on the lookout for fresh blood at centre-half, with Lenglet, over recent weeks, having emerged as an increasingly attractive option.

A loan move from Barcelona is considered the most likely path forward as things stand, with the Atléti brass now working towards clearing space on their wage bill to register the former Sevilla man with La Liga.
