Barcelona star labelled ‘the Lamine Yamal of defenders’

Barcelona sporting director Deco has this week made known his appreciation for the talents of Blaugrana starlet Pau Cubarsí. This of course comes fresh off a spectacular last few months for the young defender.

For those who weren’t already aware of his remarkable talents, stopper Cubarsí announced himself onto the world stage once and for all this past summer.

En route to Spain lifting the World Cup, the 19-year-old emerged as one of La Roja’s most consistent and reliable performers. From his berth at the heart of defence, Cubarsí helped Luis de la Fuente’s troops to an incredible record of just one goal conceded all tournament.

On top of his brilliance on the defensive side of the ball, Cubarsí also continued to dazzle with his endeavours on the ball, one of the very best young passers in all of football.

With the Spanish starlet having since followed up with a near-flawless start to the new club season, too, the aforementioned Deco this week therefore made use of the opportunity to sing Cubarsí’s praises publicly.

During an exchange with the media, as cited by journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Barcelona chief assured:

“Pau Cubarsí is the Lamine Yamal of centre-backs. He’s become a leader and has corrected small details to improve. He’s fantastic.”
