Barcelona star awarded Man of the Match despite Real Madrid’s Clásico win

A member of the attacking ranks at Barcelona was handed the Man of the Match award on Sunday night, despite his side’s defeat at the hands of Real Madrid.

Barca, of course, marked their return to action a short time ago.

Making the trip to the Santiago Bernabéu, the Blaugrana went toe-to-toe with arch rivals Real Madrid, with the club’s domestic season essentially on the line.

When all was said and done, however, Xavi and co. were forced to kiss their hopes of an unlikely La Liga retention goodbye.

As much came as hosts Real twice recovered from a goal down to ultimately emerge on the right side of a 3-2 result.

A number of Los Blancos’ stars shone bright on the evening, with surprise hero Lucas Vázquez having played a direct hand in all three of his side’s goals.

As alluded to above, though, the official Man of the Match award was nevertheless handed to a member of the defeated Barcelona ranks.

The player in question? Lamine Yamal.

Wide-man Lamine enjoyed another stellar evening on Sunday, causing Eduardo Camavinga all sorts of problems down Barca’s right flank by way of a world-class combination of speed, touch, and dribbling ability.

And though his side did not emerge with the kind of result they so craved in Spain’s capital, the 16-year-old did secure for himself another prestigious individual prize:
