The lead scouting team from La Liga giants Barcelona were in attendance at this past weekend’s Primeira Liga meeting between Porto and Estoril.
This came with a view to watching the performance of the latter’s Jordan Arnolin.
Arnolin, for his part, is widely considered one of the standout up-and-coming talents in Portugal. Just 18 years of age, the youngster has been hailed for his technical and tactical qualities, as well as his impressive versatility.
The latter of these traits was on full show over the weekend, as Estoril made the trip to Primeira Liga heavyweights Porto.
Chiefly a central defender, Arnolin featured from the off at the base of the visitors’ midfield. And as alluded to above, watching along all the while were a scouting team from none other than Barcelona.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, citing Portuguese outlet Record:
‘Representatives from Barcelona were at the Estádio do Dragão to watch Arnolin in action. The club are closely monitoring Arnolin due to his tactical versatility, as he can play centre-back, full-back, or defensive midfielder, and because of his impressive development, which has led him to represent Portugal at youth levels.’
