La Liga champions Barcelona have this week tied up an agreement to add to the club’s defensive ranks at reserve team level. This comes amid confirmation of a deal being put in place with German outfit Hamburg for Mikael Baza.
Baza, for his part, is a 16-year-old defender, who chiefly lines out in a central role. Left-footed, technically gifted and with bags of room for growth, the stopper has long been considered one of the standout young talents in German football.
Such abilities recently piqued the attentions of those in a position of power at the aforementioned Barcelona, who earmarked Baza as the ideal addition to the youth system in Catalunya’s capital.
Ahead of the fast-approaching transfer deadline, Deco and co. in turn recently kicked into gear negotiations with club and player alike, over a deal for the youngster.
And as alluded to above, early this week, these discussions are understood to have borne fruit. As per a report from market insider Fabrizio Romano, citing Sky Germany:
‘Barcelona have completed a deal to sign 16-year-old defender Mikael Baza from HSV Hamburg for Barça Atletic. Jonathan Tah’s cousin will sign a three-year deal until June 2029.’
