Barcelona seal signing of midfield starlet

La Liga giants Barcelona have early this week closed a deal to add to the club’s engine room ranks at reserve team level. This comes courtesy of the signing of Mirza Catovic.

Catovic, for his part, is a 19-year-old midfielder who chiefly lines out in a deep-lying role, but is also more than capable of stepping forward into a more orthodox position.

A youth international with his native Germany, the starlet has spent recent seasons developing in the academy and reserve team ranks of Bundesliga side Stuttgart.

And as alluded to above, along the way, Catovic evidently did enough to turn the heads of one of European football’s leading clubs.

As per a report from transfer market journalist Fabrizio Romano, reigning Spanish champions Barcelona have agreed a late-window deal to bring the German in for the seasons ahead.

Catovic, initially at least, will link up with Juliano Belletti’s Barca Atlètic, as part of a season-long loan deal featuring an option to buy set at €3.5 million.
