Spanish football’s two leading clubs are expected to lock horns over the signature of Manchester City star Erling Haaland, in the case of the Sky Blues being forced to bid farewell to the club’s star performers.
Man City have of course taken their place front and centre in the media headlines across world football over the course of recent weeks.
This comes after the Premier League confirmed reports that the Citizens have been found guilty of ‘all charges related to serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules over a nine-season period, and the majority of charges in relation to its failure to co-operate with the League’s investigation’.
Those in a position of power at The Etihad, as a result, look set for an unprecedented punishment, ranging from massive fines to points deductions and potentially even the stripping of Premier League titles.
Should as much ultimately come to fruition, City could be forced into something of a fire sale, with the aforementioned Erling Haaland as the grand prize.
And as alluded to above, ready to position themselves at the very front of the queue for the Norwegian in this scenario would be the respective boards at Barcelona and Real Madrid. As per a report from Fichajes:
‘While awaiting the repercussions of Manchester City’s potential transfer ban, Erling Haaland’s future remains uncertain. Both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will be vying for the signing of the striker.’
The Clásico rivals are prepared to ‘pull out all the stops’ to beat the competition to Haaland’s signing.
