La Liga’s two leading clubs have early this week been dealt something of a blow on the transfer front.
This comes after Joško Gvardiol made the call to renew his contract terms with Premier League heavyweights Manchester City.
Defender Gvardiol has of course taken his place centre stage in the Spanish media headlines for several weeks now. After word was forthcoming that the Croatian was mulling over his future, both Barcelona and Real Madrid were quickly credited with an interest in his signature.
These links have continued to persist for some time, with the latter understood to be particularly keen admirers of Gvardiol’s talents.
As alluded to above, though, amid their respective searches for reinforcements at the back, both Barcelona and Real Madrid will be forced to look elsewhere.
As per a report from transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano:
‘Joško Gvardiol deal, done and confirmed as he signs new contract at Manchester City. Agreement until June 2031 and move to Spain off for this summer.’
