Barcelona president Joan Laporta: “A cycle has finished and we are working on a renewal process.”

Barcelona president Joan Laporta admits that a cycle has finished at Camp Nou and he wants to “carry out a renovation” after the LaLiga club underperformed during the 2020/21 season.

Speaking at the Festa de l’Esport Catala, Laporta said: “A cycle has finished. We have been eliminated from the Champions League very early and the league has been lost in an incomprehensible way. I’m talking about the end of the cycle and a renewal process because that’s what I think needs to be done.”

Ronald Koeman’s future at the club remains up in the air, with former player Xavi Hernández rumoured to be next in line to take over in Catalonia.
