According to AS, Barcelona are monitoring Feyenoord and Mexico striker Santiago Giménez.
The 22-year-old has 13 goals and three assists to his name in 10 games this season with his fine form making him the target of Europe’s elite clubs. Arch-rivals Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on the forward.
Although Robert Lewandowski is the only natural striker in the Barcelona squad, it is unlikely the club will make a move for Giménez in the upcoming transfer market. The Catalan club’s focus on recruiting a creative midfielder coupled with their delicate financial situation means a deal for Giménez isn’t considered a priority at this moment in time.
The reigning Spanish champions are guided by their sporting director and former player Deco. The Portuguese director is keen on bringing in versatile attacker Vitor Roque in the upcoming transfer window, meaning any potential interest in Giménez may be turned down until the summer.
